Dimensions - A Tribute to the Allman Brothers Band

Just Released!

Dimensions - A Tribute to the Allman Brothers Band

As a young musician growing up in the 70s the Allman Brothers were an amazing source of blues, rock, and country licks.  They were musically mature beyond their years and played with raw passion.  I wonder to this day what Duane would have sounded like had his life not been cut short. Gregg was a soulful songwriter and one of my favorite singers of all time. Midnight Rider is an absolute classic and one of my favorite songs of all time.

I believe their musical soul lives on through me as it does for so many others who grew up with the ABB.  To say that they were huge influence on my playing would be an understatement.

I hope you enjoy Dimensions. It was a spiritual experience to produce it.

Ken

Great year for music!

In the past twelve months or so I've had dozens of new placements in TV worldwide including prime time spots on the 2018 Winter Olympics, Chicago PD and The Voice.

It's been a busy year at Sliding Door Studio, too, with several new projects ongoing.

I'm currently collaborating with flutist Pamela Sklar on several new instrumental pieces.

Also working with The Roadhouse Roosters and Joel Smith to produce their upcoming CD.

It's been a while...

My music was featured twice during the 2018 Winter Olympics for men's snowboarding and women's curling.

In yesterday's third episode of the Voice blind auditions my new tune "Slippery River" set the scene for the bio on a four chair turn, Dexter Roberts.

Love to my Mom who passed away in July and to my Dad who passed away ten years ago.  Wish you were here to see this.

Angel Rissoff passed away earlier this week.

Angel Rissoff passed away earlier this week.  He was one of the greatest musicians I ever worked with.  We became good friends over the past two years working on several projects together.  He was blessed with talent and passion and I was blessed to get to know and work with him.  He was a musician's musician and a gentleman - in a very cool way.

I took this picture just before Angel became ill.  The smile on his face was genuine - not because I asked him to say cheese but because he was making music as I snapped the photo.   He found joy in music and I found joy in his music and friendship.  RIP, Angel.

Brooke Baldwin Loves Ken - so does Pawn Stars!

I am happy to report that the new year has started off with a bang for Ken's Tunes!

CNN's Brooke Baldwin introduced a new segment on her show yesterday called "American Woman" and chose my song "Let Yourself Dream On" for the opening and closing of the segment.  The clip can be viewed here: http://www.snappytv.com/tc/3790543/2259803.   Thanks to Ken Skjeveland for recognizing the guitar solo and letting me know he heard it live!  Ken is the rockin' singer on the full version.  Thanks also to Larry Forrest for his funky bass on the cut.

In the "more good news" category, Ken's instrumental "Country Gentleman" found it's way (again) onto the latest episode of the History Channel's hit show, Pawn Stars.  Thanks to all the music supervisors out there that keep pickin' Ken's Tunes!

Speaking of pickin'...Here's a new one called "Pick Yer Friends" inspired by the American Pickers show.

NBC's "The Voice" loves "Lay Down With Dogs"

I'm so happy to announce that "Lay Down With Dogs" was used again this past Tuesday on NBC's primetime hit "The Voice".  This is the third time "The Voice" has chosen this cut to set the tone for a scene.

Co-written with Vito Luizzi (Johnny Winter's close friend and long-time drummer) "Lay Down With Dogs" was originally written back in 2011 to pitch to Johnny Winter for an upcoming album.  Johnny heard and dug the tune but unfortunately he never recorded another album of original music before he passed.

Ken makes History again.

The History Channel's new American Restoration is making good use of Ken's tunes.  Almost all of the episodes in the new season have featured one or more of Ken's "garage rock" inspired cues.

Another History Channel favorite, Pawn Stars, featured "Country Gentleman" (again) in the new episode that aired last week.  "Country Gentleman" is a favorite of the History Channel having appeared in multiple episodes of American Pickers and various other shows.

A big thank you to all the music publishers, libraries, supervisors, and fans of the shows.
