Ken's News!

Picked in America Again, and Again...

I am proud to announce that one of my recent tunes, Les Blues Electric, appeared in last night's new episode of American Pickers on the History Channel.

And just a few weeks ago two of my tracks appeared in the American Pickers episode featuring a Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar. They used my track, Country Gentleman (written as a tribute to Chet) , as well as one of my dobro solo tracks.  Certainly this was also a very proud moment for me.

Ken's Tunes hit pay dirt on WFDU and Animal Planet's "Fool's Gold"

Ken's tunes "Cold Train" and "Lonesome Whistle" were both featured on Christine Vitale's morning show on WFDU radio out of Fairleigh Dickinson University today.

"Deep Water", the title cut from T. Nicks and Ken Eichler recently released CD, has also received airplay on WFDU several times in the past few weeks.  We give our sincerest thanks to the folks at WFDU for supporting local and independent artists.

"Cold Train", another cut from the CD "Deep Water", has also been featured recently in many television shows including several episodes of Animal Planet's "Fool's Gold".

"Lonesome Whistle", written by Joel M. Smith and produced by Ken, first appeared on The Hip Pocket Band "Returns" album and later re-appeared on the Roadhouse Roosters self titled EP.

Roadhouse Roosters release self titled EP

Roadhouse Roosters just released their first EP called (you guessed it) "Roadhouse Roosters".  The EP features six original blues/rock tunes by singer/guitarist Joel M. Smith.  Recorded and produced by Ken Eichler at Sliding Door Studio, Roadhouse Roosters can be purchased online at CD Baby, iTunes, etc. and is also available at all popular streaming sites.

Roadhouse Roosters hail from the northern suburbs of New York city. They play uptempo boogie and blues that's heavy on slide, electric and acoustic guitars. Their repertoire is a combination of covers and originals designed to keep the audience from ever getting bored. Heavily influenced by Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan and other great bluesmen of the past, they always give their listeners a rockin' good time.

"Roadhouse Roosters are bluesmen...and the bluesman has his black cat bone and his mojo working. He has tended to the fire of the gypsy woman late into the night, in so gaining enlightenment into the mysteries of life, love, witches, and women. He has made the pilgrimage to the crossroads, stared the Devil himself in the eye and lived to tell the tale in song. Ordinary men stand in awe and women get hungry in the presence of...the Bluesman!"  Joel M. Smith

Johnny Winter is gone...

...but his spirit lives on in our memories, his recordings and in the licks of thousands of guitarists (myself included) who considered him one of their greatest guitar heroes.

Johnny Winter was my first guitar hero.  In fact the very first concert I ever attended was Saturday March 13th, 1971 at the Fillmore East with Johnny Winter And headlining.  Leading on for Johnny was Elvin Bishop and The Allman Brothers Band.  In fact, the Allmans recorded for their Live At The Fillmore album that night.  That was the night Duane Allman became my second guitar hero.

I still pinch myself today thinking of that night.  And now, once again, the memories bring tears to my eyes.

RIP Johnny
